Darker Than Black – 05
Late release this week due to getting the transport stream late. We’re looking for a raw capper that has access to MBS. By getting a TS right after the show has aired, we’d be able to release an episode of DtB before midnight EST.
A second note. We haven’t released AVIs since Kurenai aired, so it’s pointless to ask us for one. Our releases can be played on netbooks, so I see no reason why everyone can’t play it. If you’re complaining about file size, then external storage is cheap.
Anyway, enjoy DtB.

can you post the script also???

i think the file size issue is for storing on DVDs for archiving (all episodes in one DVD if it’s 13 episodes or 2 DVDs if its 24-26 episodes)

crap, i forgot one thing in my previous post…

keep it up guys!!! \m/

Thanks for the Script…….
thanks for the release guys……….keep it up…loving ur subs…

yay more DtB! ^___^ Don’t worry about the time, if it takes longer, it takes longer. Worth it either way for the great subs here.
@luke DVDs are ridiculously cheap too, even more so than externals (at least, if you buy in bulk. $20 US for 100-pack). Price difference of 3 discs and 2 is hardly worthy of note.

@luke/anyone wanting to put these on dvds:
350/1024*12 ~= 4.1
DVD ~= 4.3
DTB is 12 eps and fits on a dvd. I could even make it bigger and still have it fit. Thus, it’s a non-issue.
Also a MBS capper would be fantastic. Sincerely, me.

Thanks guys. I enjoyed the original season and I was always itching to find out more about the story. Had no idea there was a second season until this week. I look forward to your continuing releases.

The AVI’s would be useful for the section of the community that produces AMV’s (Personally, I haven’t been able to find any video editing program that is able to use .mkv files). Not so much of an issue, but it’s there.
That out of the way, thanks for the bang up job you’re doing. Always glad to have something to watch after a long school week.

November 6th, 2009 at 8:11 pm
Some people already have a raw and don’t want to waste bandwidth to get subs.
Also, BSS does have a script section, guys…

@Snipes: You can make an interim avi for use in your video editing app using avisynth. Arguably, mkvs are better than avis as far as amvs go because of the lack hardsubbed text.
Down the interim path, would this work for the video editors that can’t accept mkv directly: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=49964 ?

Good work!

Filesize is never an issue. Upscaling is your friend.
Thanks for the hard work!

you said “Izanami” at episode 5. There was mentioned “Izanagi” at episode 2 (if i don’t mistake) by some guy with scar and sun glasses. If the intention was “Izanami” in the first place then you got a mistake at episode 2.

I read your comment about no .avi releases. I’ll have you know that tweeking every reasonable setting that I can think of has still left me with a several second delay of the video to the audio. THAT is the reason people ask for an AVI release. THEY WANT TO SEE AND HEAR THE SHOW AT THE SAME TIME! NOT IN A DELAYED MUDDLED MESS!!
November 7th, 2009 at 9:07 am
Do you have your Audio Time Shift enabled by mistake? If you are using MPC, the setting is under Options, Internal Filters, Audio Switcher: on the right will be “Audio time shift.” Make sure it is not checked. If you’re using another player type, see if it has a similar option.
If you still have a fixed audio delay for some reason (not hearing it on mine), you can set a +/- value in the option mentioned above and sync the audio that way.
If none of the above works and you have an older comp, get CoreAVC. I used to use CCCP’s ffdshow with my old system and on 720p (h.264 encodes) the video always had to play catch up to the audio. Once I got CoreAVC, everything played in sync and smoother. It reduces the demand on the processor significantly.

Also, do you have Haali Matroska Splitter installed? If so, make sure that under Options, Internal Filters: Matroska is UNchecked. (if using MPC)

Thanks for your release guys, and for keeping up with fast releases.
Guys, it’s true that the audio(or the subs if you have softsubbed karaoke on) are delayed when using netbooks to watch HD videos, but that also depends on the netbook you use (mine is shit and it really happened). But I don’t think that an HD video is much of a problem for a PC. I can watch HD videos on a PC I bought about 8 years ago.
In a few words they are not lying. However be grateful enough that these guys are subbing this for us (remember that you’re not paying them). If you really need AVI then google is your friend. There are several pages with tutorials, links and all you need to know about converters and all out there. Do it on your own.

@blabla
Maybe you should google izanami/izanagi and read up on it, eh?

For those of you amv creators you should be able to load any format your computer plays using directshowsource and avisynth, refer to http://google.com/ for help with this. We won’t be releasing avi again, ever. Anything you see on TokyoTosho or other such sites are unofficial and there shouldn’t be any discussion pertaining to that on this site. I will be deleting any comments asking for an avi release from now on. For those of you who can’t get the mkv release to play regardless of what you try, you can always download an avi raw posted on http://tokyotosho.info/ and watch with the scripts we provide on the site. On a related note I will also be deleting any comments asking for the script. There seems to be one or two of these each release even though we have specifically stated where to find the scripts for each episode on the site. We always upload the script to the site immediately after we release the episode so just be patient.

For those who have problem playing high-res h264 video or simply said : big mkv file, try using this http://www.codecs.com/download/Codec.htm
Uninstall any codec or codec pack you have first before installing that.
LQ suck, if you insist try reencode it yourself, we have to be grateful enough they’re subbing this :<

Good job guys. don’t bow to the kiddies who want avi. its a shitty container confined to the past.
November 8th, 2009 at 4:52 pm
You may be able to play HD mkv files on an 8-yr-old PC, but I used to have a 4-year-old mac which wouldn’t play them without skipping or crashing. Most of the freeware that lets you easily convert to avi format seems to be PC-only. The amount of hassle I went through trying to find avi’s of Michiko To Hatchin and Genius Party and Freedom was ridiculous.
Luckily some crackmonkey stole it recently, and I now have a new one off insurance which will play these ridiculous higher-than-dvd-quality files that you fansub people give us for free out of the kindness of your hearts, but this is only by chance. Avi’s are damn useful.
More to the point, thanks for the episode. This show is depressing as fuck but it still rocks more than anything else this season..

“You may be able to play HD mkv files on an 8-yr-old PC, but I used to have a 4-year-old mac which wouldn’t play them without skipping or crashing.”
HOLD IT RIGHT THERE. Macs DON’T CRASH, I saw it on TV. SPREAD YOUR DISINFORMATION SOMEWHERE ELSE.
