Darker than Black – Gemini of the Meteor – Vol.1 BD
Here are the two episodes that were on volume one of the DtB S2 blu-rays. Note that episode 2+ will use ordered chapters–this will save you space in the long run, trust me. Just keep them in the same folder, yada yada… Also, the BD source is much cleaner and clearer than the tv broadcast (imagine that), so it compresses better. Enjoy.
Torrent: 01-02 + op/ed (720p)
With regards to a 1080p encode:
( @skystrife ) no, not worth it. doesn’t look like 1080p material to me.
( @skystrife ) you’d probably get just as much detail using something like ffdshow to upscale it to 1080p
It’s also not playable on whatever shiny plastic box you own that isn’t a pc, as are almost all of my encodes. I don’t plan on changing this. Feel free to blog at me on irc about it.
And yes, we will be subbing the OVAs that come on the blu-rays–there is one ep on every other disc, so expect that around the 27th or so.

could u also put the subs u used for this??
since I have the raw version…I though U could also put the subs separately???
January 14th, 2010 at 2:17 am
@Dark Noah:
They won’t sync, or at least ep2+ won’t, since the op/ed will be missing. Just grab the final scripts from the script repository–those are what were used.

thanks! :3

@skystrife…ok then…next time I will wait for the BSS’s subbed version…..I’ll just download the OP & ED in the torrent….
however if i wanted to join the OP & ED of ur encodes which software should I use???
also which software was used for encoding these ep??
I m asking this b’cause I have some BD ep of some anime & I wanted to join them using ordered chapters

@Dark Noah:
The only thing you need for ordered chapters is a working copy of mkvtoolnix. See http://www.mod16.org/hurfdurf/?p=8 for a pretty good guide.

Thank you. ^_^ I’m looking forward to the OVAs.
January 14th, 2010 at 9:16 am

January 14th, 2010 at 1:02 pm
gorgeous video quality.
January 14th, 2010 at 1:42 pm

January 14th, 2010 at 3:29 pm
opps lol i meant DTB* xD
January 14th, 2010 at 7:36 pm
These aren’t the extra episodes they were speaking of right?
January 15th, 2010 at 12:08 am
Thanks for the bluray version.
Now waiting for more TM 8.0 blurays from you guys
January 15th, 2010 at 8:09 am
Thank you for the release! Do you know what bitrate the sound is encoded at?
January 15th, 2010 at 10:47 am
i was wondering if anyone knew the name of the anime that was previewed at the end of DTB episode eleven i think it was, it said 2010 but that was about all i understood.
January 15th, 2010 at 10:53 am
Video was compressed very well. About the same size as tv rips. This will be the first time I’m dling bluray since it’s such a convenient file size =].
Thanks again for this.
January 15th, 2010 at 12:07 pm
excellent. better quality at a smaller file size. no reason not to download. i think my marketing background is showing.
January 15th, 2010 at 1:32 pm
Great work! can’t wait for the new OVA!
January 15th, 2010 at 5:39 pm
Hey you guys gonna be subbing the new Nodame Cantabile Season that premiered yesterday?
January 16th, 2010 at 5:31 am
@fenixdown110:
-q 0.8 AAC (nero). Something roughly 320kbps-ish.
@Thoran:
Maybe…
January 16th, 2010 at 5:10 pm
I’m able to fix the files myself with mkvtoolnix, but is it possible to set the default flag to yes/default on the video track in future releases? Apparently most Mac players tend to show nothing but white video when there is no track with the flag set.
Yeah, just trying to be future-lazy.
January 17th, 2010 at 3:48 pm
I was wondering if this and future DTB release will be playable on “Whataever shiny plastic box” we play on?
January 18th, 2010 at 10:11 am
Yeah, I know people running 2ghz Core2Duo’s and Xeon’s who can’t run 1080p without having to use CoreAVC instead of ffdshow. I really wonder who the people are that actually can play the 1080p smoothly. Probably mostly encoders . . .
January 18th, 2010 at 6:09 pm
@DTamer:
Not if I’m encoding, most likely. Only concession I’m willing to make is maybe 15 ref instead of 16 for coreavc cuda users.
@hiyo:
This isn’t 1080p, or this would be a different story.
If you can’t play back 720p you need to upgrade: I have reports of netbooks being able to play this just fine. If your desktop is slower than a netbook, you should really upgrade.
January 19th, 2010 at 2:08 pm
@ skystrife
which encoder do u use???
cause I have really liked the quality of ur encodes
January 20th, 2010 at 1:43 pm
@Dark Noah:
x264 and neroaacenc.
January 20th, 2010 at 7:36 pm
Do they show Suou’s nipples in the BD? (Please say yes.)
February 3rd, 2010 at 7:51 pm
If by “whatever shiny plastic box you own that isn’t a pc” you mean “Macintosh”, sorry, but it works fine on QuickTime, just as all your rips. If someone complains, they’re probably too dumb for a Mac.
ps: Works great on Apple TV too with Perian.
February 6th, 2010 at 3:43 am
@Zero:
No, I was referring PS3/Xbox 360/PC dependent on using hardware acceleration/any future shiny non-computer boxes.
Also, expect episode 3 soon!
February 11th, 2010 at 9:44 am
If it isn’t shiny, will it work?
February 11th, 2010 at 3:11 pm
@Mia:
u so fanny.
srs: Your mileage may vary. If it’s not a computer I make no guarantees and you’re on your own.
