The Cloud 100

Results are in for The Cloud 100. Each year Forbes recognizes the best private cloud companies in the world from Silicon Valley to Australia to Belgium.

In first place: Stripe. Shout to Canva and Gusto for making it in the top 20. Also on the list: ManyChat, the messaging bot platform.

$1,000,000,000 Valuation

Palmer Luckey is having some luck with his virtual border wall startup. Pun absolutely intended.

Luckey founded Facebook’s Oculus but left two years ago and began exploring a new venture, Anduril Industries. Anduril’s border control technology includes towers with cameras and infrared sensors that use A-I to track movement.

CNBC reported Anduril is being valued at more than $1 billion in a new fundraising round -- with latest financing including capital from Andreessen Horowitz.

Delivered to Your Doorstep

Coming to your doorstep soon: unlimited groceries. Walmart has plans to expand its "unlimited" grocery delivery service to 1,400 stores across the country, according to Reuters. This comes as competition intensifies among retailers to deliver online orders faster.

Walmart is giving subscribers the option to pay one yearly fee of $98 or a monthly payment of $12.95. Earlier this year, Walmart piloted grocery delivery services in Houston, Miami, Salt Lake City and Tampa. It not only makes grocery shopping easier, but Walmart said it employs more than 45,000 shoppers to run the service.

Google Play Pass Challenges Apple Arcade

There have been whispers of a potential Google Play game subscription service.

The Verge reported in August about leaked screenshots revealing intel on Google testing Play Pass, a subscription service offering hundreds of premium apps and games with no ads or in-app purchases.

Now, those whispers are loud and clear: Google Play Pass is officially coming soon.

The timing of this teaser is certainly not serendipitous. News of Google Play Pass came out one day before Apple revealed its pricing and launch details for Apple Arcade.

Details on Google Play Pass are sparse. Luckily, we do have those leaked screenshots from Android Police, which shows the Play Pass signup page and monthly $4.99 fee. Of course, that price is subject to change but since Apple Arcade is rumored to only be $5 per month, it is possible Google Play pass will also lowball its price.

Apple Arcade is available September 19th. Again, details on Google Play Pass are limited, but with its timeliness of the initial teaser and similar pricing to Apple, we’re wondering if Play Pass will launch near Apple’s September release date.

Weekend Wisdom

In this week's wisdom, CEO of Movable Ink, Vivek Sharma, drops some insight on how to inspire growth as a CEO. He said,

"One of the things companies have to think about is the ceiling of the company is really the CEO's capacity to grow and desire to keep growing. And so, something I've had to be conscious about is to push myself and not fall into a laziness, an intellectual laziness, unwillingness to learn. Sometimes you might feel like you're in a pretty good place but there's always something new and different."
