A Toast to better days

Our neighbors over at Toast, the leaders in cloud-based restaurant management software, launched a Rally for Restaurants initiative this week—a way to unite top brands across the tech and foodservice sectors in support of the dining community during the COVID-19 crisis.

Toast’s public directory of participating restaurants across the U.S. makes it easy for guests to support local restaurants. Any restaurant—Toast customer or not—can be listed on the Rally for Restaurants website, and Toast is committing up to $250,000 in matching contributions to World Central Kitchen and the Restaurant Workers’ Community Foundation.

“Rally for Restaurants is a grassroots movement built to support local restaurants and stimulate cash flow by encouraging consumers to order takeout and delivery so the foodservice community can count on the income to keep their businesses running.”

As a result of COVID-19, restaurant sales are down over 70% with nearly 15 million food service jobs at risk. So Toast joined forces with Pepsi, Tripadvisor, DoorDash, and Postmates to foster a positive economic impact for the food service crew.

So how does this thing work? It’s pretty simple, but the effects go far.

First, find a restaurant. Search the Rally for Restaurants platform for the spots you love (or submit a restaurant if you don't already see it on there) and decide how you want to give. Order takeout for your family or a gift card for a friend. Tag #RallyforRestaurants on social media, as well as the restaurant you supported, to spread the word. Challenge a pal to do the same.

Here's a link to the full rundown, as well as real-time insights on how COVID-19 is actively impacting the restaurant industry.

A SaaStr Summit: Bridging the Gap

And now, we see more relief for the founders, the doers, and the makers.

We are no stranger to the fact that we’re in unique times. And going at it alone feels like the furthest thing from productive. From the get-go, we’ve backed the word of solidarity, banning together to alter our playbooks, make adjustments where need be, and stop acting as if it were four weeks ago

And the SaaStr team is on board. We may have missed the crew in San Jose this year, but SaaStr is back at it—hosting a global virtual event called SaaStr Summit: Bridging the Gap

RecurNow-SaaStr-BridgingtheGap

This one will be permeated by SaaS leadership and expertise, all about bridging the gap during the downturn. From hiring and sales cycles to venture capital, it’s an open conversation on what we’re seeing now in SaaS (and what it means for our futures).

Some names we’re especially pumped to see on the list: Stewart Butterfield at Slack, Ciara Peter of Gainsight, SaaStr’s Jason Lemkin, and of course our very own Patrick Campbell

This one’s coming up on April 22.

Today, we’re featuring ConnectWise—so we can stay connected, while staying apart.

Social distancing is the new norm for the foreseeable future, but we’re still cranking full steam ahead. So we’re digging ConnectWise, software for optimizing your remote workforce.

ConnectWise ultimately transforms how managed service providers, or MSPs, deliver managed IT services to their clients. It’s software used for business automation, remote monitoring, cybersecurity, backup and disaster recovery—and touches all the teams (sales and marketing, account managers, HR, finance, engineering).

It’s a full stack solution to implement new processes and replace outdated tools.

And apparently, ConnectWise has a lot of happy partners right now, with companies like Integrated Computer Systems Support seeing over 27% YOY growth, and Techvera replicating the same amount of revenue with just five managed services as 50 break-fix clients, ultimately bringing in 4 to 5x the margin.

ConnectWise is also hosting a “Hand Wash Karaoke Challenge” to support small business IT providers—which is making quite the impressive reputation for itself across social media. Get involved.

That’s a wrap on your April 2 episode of Recur Now. Thanks for tuning in.

This series is a Recur Studios production—the fastest-growing subscription network out there. If you find use for this show, subscribe for more like it at profitwell.com/recur.
